When the obvious solutions aren't working, look deeper.

POTYL helps established business owners in real estate, e-commerce and services uncover what's limiting performance, identify overlooked opportunities, and decide where to focus before investing in another solution.

The symptom isn't always the cause.

Sales have slowed. The first proposal on the table is usually the most visible one: spend more on advertising. Sometimes that is exactly right. But that symptom can have several plausible causes, and each one calls for a different response:

  • Conversion. Inquiries still arrive, but fewer of them become customers. The issue may sit in sales follow-up, not lead volume.
  • Information gaps. Buyers can't find what they need to feel confident, so they hesitate or go elsewhere.
  • Positioning. The offer no longer clearly matches what customers value — or why they should choose you.
  • A changing customer base. The people buying have shifted in age, location, or needs, while the strategy hasn't.

Solve the right problem before investing in the wrong solution.

  1. 1 · Symptom

    Sales have slowed.

The obvious fix: spend more on advertising.

  2. 2 · Investigate

Test each plausible cause against the evidence.

    • ConversionSupported
    • Information gapsNot supported
    • PositioningNot supported
    • Changing customer baseNot supported
  3. 3 · Decide

Fix sales follow-up before raising the ad budget.

Then implement, and measure against the baseline.

Illustrative example: one symptom, several possible causes, one decision based on evidence.

Where we help

Owners usually get in touch when something like this is happening:

  • Sales have stalled despite continued marketing.
  • The business is busy, but profitability isn't improving.
  • Customers show interest, but too few move forward.
  • Growth has created bottlenecks in day-to-day operations.
  • A significant investment is on the table, but the underlying problem isn't clear.

Our experience is rooted in three kinds of established business — where we start, not the limit of where the thinking applies.

Established Service Businesses

Commercial and residential contractors, specialty trades, flooring and construction-related firms, B2B and regional service companies.

Are you winning enough of the right jobs, or just quoting more of the wrong ones?

Challenges we look at in Established Service Businesses

Start with a Business Performance Diagnosis.

Most engagements begin here, before money goes into a fix. The work is set out in a written proposal, so you know what will be examined and what you'll receive before it starts.

What we look at

  • The numbers you already have: sales, inquiries, costs
  • How customers find you, decide, and buy
  • How the work gets done, and where it gets stuck
  • What has already been tried, and what happened

What you receive

  • A written summary of the key findings
  • The likely underlying problems and opportunities
  • A prioritized action plan with next steps
  • A practical way to measure improvement
  • A meeting to review the findings together

What happens next

You can implement the plan independently, or discuss additional strategy and implementation support with POTYL.

Founder-led

Experience informs the work

POTYL is led by its founder, Peter Mark Potylicki, whose commercial experience spans real estate brokerage, construction and commercial services, residential flooring sales, search and affiliate marketing, and e-commerce.

That work has ranged from managing agent recruitment and building a brokerage partnership program, to selling commercial services, working with homeowners in flooring sales, and selling online. Where a project needs specific expertise, POTYL brings in complementary specialists, agreed with you in advance.

About the founder
From the founder's experience

Why fewer clicks sometimes produced more sales

Situation
Over roughly two to three years, the founder ran several separate affiliate marketing initiatives, for digital and physical products.
What was noticed
Potential buyers were searching for reviews and information that existing sellers weren't adequately providing.
What was done
Created affiliate review content (with affiliate disclosures on the advertisements and written review pages), YouTube product demonstrations, and regionally targeted Amazon links.
What was observed
Traffic from YouTube comment discussions sometimes brought fewer sales-page visits, but more sales per visitor.

Founder-reported observations from past work, not a controlled study or independently verified. No conversion, traffic or revenue figures are claimed.

Attention and traffic volume are not the same as commercial value.

Why More Marketing Isn't Always the Answer to Slowing Sales

When sales slow, the instinct is to buy more attention. Sometimes that works. Often the real constraint sits somewhere advertising can't reach.

Start with a conversation about fit.

Tell us what's happening and what you've already tried. The first conversation is a chance to understand the challenge, see whether we're a good fit, and explain what a useful next step could look like. There's no commitment on either side.
