Solve the right problem. Build what works.
POTYL & CO. is a founder-led consultancy. We help established businesses work out what is really holding performance back, and then help build the strategies and systems that move it forward.
The founder
POTYL was founded by Peter Mark Potylicki, who leads the practice.
Peter Mark's working life has crossed fields that don't usually sit together. In each, the work came down to practical commercial problem-solving: finding out why something wasn't working and doing something useful about it.
- Real estate brokerage. As company manager at a brokerage in the Downers Grove, Illinois, market, responsible for agent recruitment, training, and new sales development, including turning an REO open-house partnership into a working program.
- Construction and commercial services. Sales and business development in construction-related and commercial service businesses.
- Residential flooring. Customer-facing sales work with homeowners, which showed how much the point of sale shapes what happens after installation.
- Marketing, search, and digital commerce. Several affiliate marketing initiatives: review content written for what buyers were searching for, YouTube product demonstrations, and regionally targeted links for UK and European shoppers.
A pattern kept repeating. The most effective answer often came from an adjacent discipline rather than the obvious one. A sales slowdown turned out to be a gap in the information buyers could find. A growth challenge was answered by a partnership outside the usual recruiting levers. A marketing problem turned out to be a presentation problem.
POTYL exists to bring that kind of cross-disciplinary investigation, and the practical follow-through, to established businesses.

How the practice works
POTYL is a founder-led consulting practice. When we say “we”, we mean Peter Mark and, where a project calls for it, specialists engaged for that work and agreed with you in advance.
The ambition is to work alongside complementary specialists — in areas such as research, analytics, design, and technology — so that each engagement gets the right expertise without unnecessary overhead.
What we believe
Diagnosis before prescription
The cost of solving the wrong problem is usually larger than the cost of investigating properly.
Evidence over certainty
We test competing explanations and are candid about what the evidence does and doesn't show.
Implementation matters
Recommendations are only useful if they're put into practice and measured.
Start with a conversation about fit.
Tell us what's happening and what you've tried. The first conversation is about understanding the challenge and whether we're a good fit, with no commitment on either side.
